True Colours
I’ve performed in front of an audience. Bigger than my school. But that wasn’t the issue. The issue was that they'll be staring at me. I was the singer. I kept fidgeting. I guess it was just nerves. The number of performances passed and every time they did, I'd fidget even more. I knew that Kahlanie and his group were before me.
One of our M.C.’s (Robertanna) announced us to the eagerly awaiting crowd." Now its time for Elizabeth and Anita!!!”. My stomach lurched nervously in response. I stood up. (Or tried to) And entered the stage. My knees trembled nervously.
“This is a song about Perseverance” I said timidly. Elizabeth and I exchanged glances. Before the song started she gave me a look which signalised ‘time to start’. I managed to get some sound out. Before I knew it I started dancing to the beat. Throughout the song I became confident enough to smile and sing without difficulty.
Once our song drifted to and end. Once I've finished singing I announced our next song. “Our next song is I’m Yours. I chose this song to sing for fun.” I said a little bit confident this time.

Athletics
Racing against the fastest girls that I know was so nerve-wracking. Elizabeth, Tokilupe, and Fetuli and Emelia were my opponents. Mrs Pole banged the two pieces blocks together. They all ran so fast they looked like a blur. I just jogged. Not caring if I came last or first. my team cheered for me encouragingly. unsurprisingly I came last.
Hundred metre races were next. The fittest people only raced. The races came and they went just like the first. None of the competitors looked like they could carry on. But they were all so eager to win.
The chanting competition was very embarrassing. We were all to confident to notice that we only had a minute to do our chants. my team the kiwis had 12 chants to do. It was so scary especially when we told everyone we were going to win. We...... Came.... last. I was to sad to even talk to the others. But thinking about the team work we did made me feel like an actual leader. (eve\though we were the noisiest yet the most energetic team) :D

To Spray or Not to Spray?
This task is about evaluating ideas and information. |
Read 'To Spray or Not to Spray?' (School Journal Part 4, Number 3, Learning Media, 2005).
Think carefully about what each of the 4 students in the article said about the spraying programme.
a) i) Which student do you think would most agree with the statement, "Spraying is safe"?
The student's name: I think Jessie
- My reasons for choosing this student are:
I chose Jessie because she had the most positive feedback about the aerial spraying
b) i) Which student do you think would most disagree with the statement, "Spraying is safe"?
The student's name: __shaun_____________
ii) My reasons for choosing this student are
I chose Shaun because he has the most negative feedback about the aerial spraying and he thinks it is not safe
c) MAF says, "When spray is applied correctly, it does not harm people, animals, plants or insects except PAM caterpillars." Do you believe MAF? Collect as much evidence as you can from the whole text to support your view.
I dont believe MAF because it says that if it is applied DIRECTLY on your skin it will cause minor skin nose and throat irritation. It also doesn't say if it is environmentally friendly. If its not toxic and water soluble to people then why do they ADVISE you to close your windows. Why dont they tell the ingredients in the spray. I think they should stop the aerial spraying once and for all because it hasnt been proven effective ansd hasnt been approved by the ministry of health.Thursday, July 7, 2011

Homework or no homework
Homework is an extremely good idea. It may help to benefit us in our learning. Having homework is like learning but at home. It may help us achieve our tests and make it to national norm. Therefore we should receive homework on a regular basis.
Secondly some people think that homework is not essential nor necessary. I for one, think its very beneficial for our learning. we all know the quote ‘practise makes perfect’. Doesn't it? One student has progressed successfully doing homework. That person agrees that homework should be always part of our after school routine. Would you mind if your child lost a few brain cells a day? Well even though 40 minutes of watching TV can damage 1 brain cell. According to a book a read on how our body works.
Us children should receive homework frequently help us practise more often. It may also increase our knowledge of more necessary things rather than noneducational things.

Maths Reflection
e.g. instead of 9x6 I just need to add a one to the 9 and that makes 10. 10x6=60, but thats not the real equation. So I need to take away 6 away from the 60 so that makes 54.
I also learnt different types of measurement and what they are used for and how many of different types of measurement are in them.
e.g. 10mm=1cm 100cm=1m 1000m=1km

Pentecost
In Room 7 during Religious Education, we were learning about Pentecost. Pentecost is the time when the Holy Spirit descended and came upon the apostles for it was promised by Jesus before he ascended into heaven.
This my title page at the beginning of the Pentecost Strand. I drew a large flame symbolizing when the Holy Spirit that came upon the disciples.

It was an emotional experience especially when we each lit a candle. I lit a candle for my mother. After that we all gathered together. Br Phillip led us to the meeting room.
During the time we spent at retreat we did activities like last card and find a matching leaf. The most confusing one was the treasure hunt. My group came second because we all had a chance to lead. Our treasure was a basket of fruit, it symbolises nourishment and health.
My favourite activity was building the arc. Jessica and I used up all the sellotape. Ours was the most prettiest because it didn't show any cardboard. It was a true blessing to get to know Jessica and see how it is like to work with her.

First part of 'I Am David'
David is a 12 year old boy who escapes from a concentration camp in World War Two, in Europe. He escapes with the help of an old man he hates very much. The old man is telling him to escape now because he’s leaving. The old man gives David instructions that will help him get from Germany to Italy and from Italy to Denmark. Once he escapes he tries to follow the old mans instructions that he was given. All the while he tries to find the items he’s looking for. He stumbles across a tied handkerchief which contains the items which will help him complete the other set of important instructions. During these times he is trying to figure out why the old man wants them to escape even though the old man hated him. Or did he?? As hard as he tried, he did not want to think about anything so that he can concentrate more on the path he is following rather than the memories setting into his head snapping him out of his concentration.
